๐งผ What You'll Need
Before you begin, gather the following:
- Clean towels or cloths
- Hot water
- Diluted hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol โ your approved cleaning solutions
- Canned compressed air (included in your Cannatrol stash box)
|
โ Approved Cleaning Solutions Diluted hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol are safe for use inside the Cool Cure. They disinfect effectively and evaporate cleanly without leaving residue or odor. |
๐ Step-by-Step Cleaning Process
Step 1 โ Remove Everything
Take out all trays, the sponge cup, and any flower. The unit should be completely empty before cleaning begins.
Step 2 โ Wipe Down the Interior
Dampen a towel with hot water and add your cleaning solution โ diluted hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol. Wipe down the entire interior of the unit thoroughly, including walls, ceiling, and floor of the chamber.
Step 3 โ Clean All Shelving
Wipe each aluminum tray individually. Make sure to clean both the top surface and the underside of every tray, as moisture and residue can accumulate on both sides.
Step 4 โ Clear the Drain Area & Fans
Use your canned compressed air to blow out the drain hole at the rear of the unit. Direct a few short bursts at the fans as well to clear any buildup. This step is essential for maintaining proper airflow and drainage.
|
โก Quick Clean Between Cycles
If you're short on time, a minimum clean between cycles is to wipe the interior down with hot water on a towel and use compressed air on the drain hole. This keeps the unit functional until a full clean can be done.
|
Step 5 โ Clean or Replace the Sponge
The sponge cup should be cleaned and disinfected during each full cleaning. Rinse it thoroughly with hot water and allow it to dry before reuse. If the sponge is too dirty or has developed odor, replace it โ a fresh sponge will not affect performance but will keep things clean and neutral-smelling inside the unit.
โ ๏ธ What to Avoid
| Never Use | Why |
|---|---|
| Bleach | Harsh chemical that leaves residue and odor; will taint flower |
| Soap or dish detergent | Leaves residue and fragrance that transfers to flower |
| Commercial cleaners / sprays | Chemical compounds linger in an enclosed environment |
| Abrasive scrubbers | Can scratch interior surfaces and create areas for residue to collect |
๐ Recommended Cleaning Schedule
| When | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Between every cycle | Full wipe-down of interior and trays; compressed air on drain and fans; clean or replace sponge |
| Quick clean (as needed) | Hot water wipe of interior; compressed air on drain hole |
| Drip tray | During Dry Cycle: empty daily. During Cure/Storage: check weekly (see Drip Tray Maintenance article) |
